Focus of the letter 20

Supertonic will be the focus of this week: easy to access, it converts text into voice quickly and locally.

The simple interface and the speed convinced me: the application was designed to be used as soon as you opened it. As for the voice, to be honest, you can find more natural elsewhere but the quality is still more than enough for most uses and it seems to me to be an acceptable compromise given what you gain in control.

Once installed on a computer (there is no executable, you will have to get your hands dirty a bit… but the documentation is accessible), Supertonic remains local and can be used without a connection. Generally, when you use online text-to-speech services, you send text to remote servers and retrieve an audio file generated elsewhere, as is the case in the Hugging Face online demonstration. With Supertonic installed, the conversion is done entirely on our machine without data transit.
