Scira (formerly MiniPerplx: https://scira.ai/ and documentation: https://github.com/zaidmukaddam/scira) is a chatbot open-source specialized search engine that responds based on external sources in the spirit of Perplexity.

Multiple search modes/locations: web, academic, X (Twitter), Reddit, GitHub, Crypto.
Direct interactions without search and “Extreme” mode for in-depth multi-source research.

Skills are integrated: code interpreter, text translation, semantic search in files (PDF, CSV, DOCX, Excel), weather, maps, flight tracking, stock market and crypto data, movie/series sheets.

Choice among a hundred models depending on the supplier (GPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Qwen, DeepSeek, GLM, Kimi, Mistral…), a large part reserved for paid accounts.

Note: the documentation announces a limit of 3 searches per 7-day period without an account, but the limit does not seem to be applied (beyond 3 searches without an account, the tool continues to respond). The quotas announced with accounts but not encrypted were not reached during the tests.

Can be used without an account for a simple search. With skills and history accounts.
