Focus of Letter 11

My focus this week is on Time AI : not because it was the 1000th article published but, as is often the case, for the questions that this tool raises.
Time has worked here to make its archives available in a chatbot integrated into the site with constant updating of the articles.

It seems to me that access to information then takes on a new form:

• readers become “captives” of an editorial line again, like a return to the newspaper received every morning, as opposed to news aggregators,
• the site’s search engine is replaced by an iterative conversation engine, we query the information more than we search for a catalog of articles, we interact with more than we “consume” the information,
• The news can be easily illuminated by archives (for example, look for the first articles warning of climate change, etc.),
• the written word is completed by an audio synthesis generated in a few tens of seconds,
• Time controls the entire chain of consultation of its articles, which are increasingly drowned in summaries or lists.
