Focus of Letter 18

This week an already almost old project (2024…) carried out by the developer and designer Simon Doury for and with the teams of the National Gallery in London and Google Arts and Culture: “National Gallery Mixtape” where we are offered to generate a piece of music from works of art.

This focus is on highlighting this link between two generative AI models, Gemini and MusicFX DJ, which makes it possible to bring together and combine painting and music. This project shows once again that creativity and AI are compatible: the reading of works by Gemini and their transcription by Music FX DJ bring new creative spaces where everyone, in “score” or “mixer” mode, can feel the work differently and even become a creator of new works.

And in connection with one of the shared readings, this project also shows that generative AI can be trained and fed from legally used works…
